Triumph
Hospital Amarillo to Relocate Spring 2008
(Amarillo, Texas/April 13, 2007) – Houston based Triumph HealthCare, the nations third largest provider of long-term acute care (LTAC) services, today announced the relocation plan for it’s Amarillo hospital. The $15 million replacement hospital, expected to open Spring 2008, will operate 64 private rooms to include a state of the art, fully licensed 10 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The 60,000 square foot, newly constructed building will be located directly across from the Amarillo Medical Center on the corner of Wallace and Glidden.
“Triumph Hospital Amarillo specializes in providing services to medically complex patients for whom the short-term acute care hospitals, like Baptist St. Anthony and Northwest, are no longer the most appropriate or cost-effective setting,” stated Charles L. Allen, President and CEO for Triumph HealthCare. “The average length of stay for patients in our specialty hospital is over 25 days compared with the 5 to 7 day lengths of stay in general hospitals,” added Allen.
Triumph Hospital Amarillo is designed to care for those patients requiring extended hospitalizations due to a chronic disease process or catastrophic illness or injury. Allen said the new hospital will expand upon the "higher end services" that are currently provided in the existing location, including intensive care services, special procedures, in-house radiology with CT services, and possibly hyperbaric oxygen chambers.
“We currently employ over 130 full time employees and anticipate adding new jobs after the relocation,” relayed Ronda Crow, CEO for the facility. “Triumph Hospital Amarillo currently is located in a facility that was built in 1968. We have been working with our landlord on options for renovating the existing facility or a move. Together we felt the best option was to build the replacement hospital.” Crow adds, “Trophy Health Realty will serve as the developer on the project and has identified land ideally suited in the heart of Amarillo’s healthcare community.”
Triumph Hospital Amarillo, formerly SCCI Hospital Amarillo, will continue to operate at its existing location at 2828 West 27th Avenue. Triumph HealthCare acquired SCCI Hospitals in August 2005.
